Video: Victim Assistance Therapy Dog Joins the FBI

Dolce is the Italian word for “sweet” and as you’ll see in this heartwarming video, it’s the perfect name for a special therapy dog who became the first “employee” of the FBI’s K-9-Assisted Victim Assistance Program.  Dolce was the assistance dog for an FBI Victim Specialist named Rachel whose rheumatoid arthritis required a little extra help from a canine companion.  Turns out Dolce’s sweet and loving personality made him destined for bigger things!

Dolce passed his therapy dog training and testing with flying colors, and now he and Rachel are pioneering the FBI’s new K-9-Assisted Victim Assistance Program.  Dolce comforts crime victims—especially children—who have experienced trauma from events like kidnapping, child pornography, and violent crimes.  Dolce is also present during difficult death notifications.  FBI agents report that Dolce provides a calming influence at even the most chaotic crime scenes.  And Rachel is now training a new puppy named Kevlar to be Dolce’s successor!
