Heartwarming Video: Rescue Birds Help Military Veterans

 

Serenity Park is a parrot sanctuary near Los Angeles, California that provides a safe haven for homeless and abandoned pet birds. What makes this facility so special is the unique relationship that has developed here between the feathered residents and a group of vets who suffer from the effects of PTSD. Therapists have discovered that interacting with and caring for these social, intelligent birds has made a huge positive impact on the lives of the veterans.

 

CBS Sunday Morning recently visited the parrot sanctuary, run by The Association for Parrot C.A.R.E., and talked to some of the vets who have benefitted from spending time with the birds. It’s an uplifting story of rescue and recovery that will warm your heart. Check out the video here:
