We all know that our dogs love to chew on things, and chew treats like rawhide or pig ears are a big hit with dogs. But did you know you can make yummy homemade dog chews out of nutritious sweet potato slices instead? Dogs can eat a variety of healthy fruits and vegetables, so why not skip the pig ears and make some veggie chews for a change? We love this easy and inexpensive recipe for sweet potato dog chews from the blog Sophie in the Kitchen:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Wash 2 sweet potatoes. Slice them lengthwise about ¼ inch thick. Place on baking sheet. Bake for 3 hours, turning halfway through. Cool on wire rack when done. These chews can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 weeks, or frozen for up to 4 months.
