Connecticut Pets Get Their Very Own Animal Ambulance

We love this story about the Emergency Animal Response Service (EARS) out of Connecticut! EARS is a non-profit, all-volunteer animal emergency response team. They help animals and their people in a wide variety of emergency and crisis situations. To help with this mission, EARS recently acquired an ambulance formerly used for humans and they equipped it to be a fully-operational animal ambulance.

Called the “Rescue 2 Animals Ambulance,” this vehicle is a fully-equipped mobile critical care unit, operated by volunteers who respond to animal emergencies 24/7. All of the volunteers are well-trained in pet first aid, life support, and associated emergency care procedures.

The animal ambulance has pet stretchers, oxygen, triage equipment, lift-assist for large dogs, and IV equipment. Pets’ vital signs can be monitored in the ambulance every 5 minutes or more frequently if needed.
